After any kind of practice, even just sitting in mediation....I tend to be hungry! Maybe its just me? So i'm constantly looking for nurtious and healthy snacks - that stop me reaching for a piece of toast with jam and butter. Although this is delicious too - its basically just cake ingredience - sugar, flour and fat!!
Sooooo here are 3 yummy recipes that were enjoyed at the first Tamar Yoga Workshop.
Kale Crisps:
Preheat oven to 120 centigrade.
Wash, spin and pick Kale off stalks. Break up into smaller pieces, spread on a baking tray and drizzle with olive oil and season to taste. Then scrunch the kale with your hands - to spread the oil over the leaves.
Place in oven, for about 20mins. Keep an eye on it the first few times you cook it, as it depends on the oven - and it burns really easily.
When its cooked to your liking - should be crispy and keep its green colour. Allow to cool and place in an air tight container. Will keep for about 5 days.
TIP: if the kale becomes soft, simply spread back on a baking tray and place in heated oven (about 120 centigrade) and it'll crispen up again.
Protein Balls - with Hemp Powder, Cacao Nibs
Packed with Hemp Protein, Cacao Nibs (super food) and nuts and seeds - these really fill you up!
The value in these little balls is great. yes the ingredients aren't cheap - but they last a while and are so healthy its worth it.
Whats inside: You can use half the quantity - this makes LOADS of balls (about 30) so unless you want share you probably need half amounts!!
12 Dates
6 Figs
1 Cup almonds
1 Cup Cashews
1 Cup Cocoa Powder
6 tbsp Cacao Nibs
4 Tbsp Chia Seeds
4 tbsp Flax seeds
Desiccated coconut for coating
Soak dates and fig in a splash of boiling water to soften.
In blender (Food processor, Nutri bullet or similar) grind nuts, add other dried ingredient and blend together.
Add the figs and dates and blend - will become sticky, and you may need to add some more cocoa powder if too wet or add a little water if too dry.
Use a spatula to remove the mixture, I weigh about 20g of mixture per ball and roll in hands to make the shape then roll in coconut to coat - repeat with all the mixture.
Done! Place in air tight container will keep for about 7 days. Enjoy lots of energy...
